HANDS OF COMPASSION

Hands of Compassion is a Christian Community based in Johannesburg. It was founded in February 1987 by Ps Alan and Ps Xana McCauley.

Community living is about discipleship. Up to 120 residents experience life at all levels and learn to accept one another.

We share daily duties and meals, pray, study the Bible and work together; we are on a journey of recovery and restoration where we aim to conform to the image of Christ.

We are funded mainly through donations.

HOC is a registered non-profit and public benefit organization (Reg. No. 000-273NPO).

Recovery — Restoration — Reconciliation

“What makes Hands of Compassion today was birthed years ago from a desire we had to do something about the poverty, injustice and need we saw around us. We may not be able to change the whole world, but we can make a difference in OUR world – in the community in which we live. We hope to inspire and challenge you to do God’s will.”

— Pastors Alan and Xana McCauley

Our Prayer For You

May God bless you with DISCOMFORT
at easy answers, half-truths and superficial relationships
so that you may live deep within your heart.

May God bless you with ANGER
at injustice, oppression, and exploitation of people
so that you may work for justice, freedom and peace.

May God bless you with TEARS
to shed for those who suffer pain, rejection, hunger and war
so that you may reach out your hand to comfort them and to turn their pain into joy.

And may God bless you with enough FOOLISHNESS
to believe that you can make a difference in the world
so that you can do what others claim cannot be done
to bring justice and kindness to all our children and the poor.
