
OUR HISTORY
Rhema Bible Church began in 1979 with just 13 people gathered in the home of Pastor Ray McCauley’s parents, shortly after his return from Bible School in the United States.
As the congregation grew, the church moved first to the former Constantia cinema, and later to a warehouse in Randburg. But even those spaces couldn’t contain the growing vision. In 1985, the Rhema Bible Church we know today was built and dedicated by Dr. Kenneth E. Hagin, becoming a spiritual home for thousands.
Under Pastor Ray’s leadership, Rhema boldly stood against Apartheid by holding non-racial church services—becoming a prophetic picture of the unity and hope that would emerge in a new South Africa. Since then, Rhema has remained committed to sharing the message of God’s love and grace across the nation and around the world.

In May 2022, senior leadership was passed to Pastor Joshua McCauley and his wife, Pastor Tara McCauley. Together, they continue to uphold Rhema’s dedication to spread God’s Word and salvation in our community and across the globe.
