Rhema’s Social outreach programmes work through Hands of Compassion (HOC). HOC is a Christian community headed by Pastors Alan and Xana McCauley. It all began in February 1987 when they decided to live out their understanding of the full gospel, with emphasis on practical help to those in need. HOC is based on a 19 hectare small holding near Lanseria Airport, Johannesburg, where up to 120 people from diverse backgrounds live and work to fulfill a three-fold vision: Recovery – Restoration – Reconciliation. Hands of Compassion, which is a department of Rhema Ministries, is funded mainly through donations given by congregation members and friends who believe in the relevancy of love in action.
Some of the work undertaken by HOC:
Soup kitchens
New Mothers Project
Recovery Project
Chefs Training Programme
HOC Children’s Home
Primary Health Clinic
Disaster Relief
HOC Depot (Bible Study, feeding & clothing)
Emergency Rooms at the Church
The Neighbourhood
We have chosen to live simply so that others may simply live.
